BEIJING, October 30 (ChinaMil) -- The international publicity work advanced seminar of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) was held at the National Defense University (NDU) of the PLA from October 22 to 29.
During the seminar, Zhang Yang, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and director of the General Political Department (GPD) of the PLA, put forward demands on PLA's military foreign publicity work.
The primary task of this seminar is to analyze and understand the public opinion that the PLA is faced with and study the significant theories and practical issues on the military foreign publicity, with a view to enhance the PLA's capability of conducting international publicity, dealing with the media and leading the public opinion.
The seminar invited leaders and experts from the International Communication Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCCPC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and the related departments of the PLA general headquarters/departments to give concentrated lectures.
The seminar also organized simulated training for participants on releasing military news and being in a press interview.
Meanwhile, the seminar arranged case instruction on military-involved sensitive issues and held face-to-face forums and exchanges with foreign military officers.
Yin Fanglong, deputy director of the GPD and head of the leading group of the PLA international publicity work, attended and addressed the seminar.
A total of 110 participants from various major organizations of the PLA, the People's Armed Police Force (APF), and the news units under the GPD attended the seminar for study and training.
