Sun Jianguo meets with U.S. guests

BEIJING, October 25 (ChinaMil) -- Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and chairman of the China Institute for International Strategic Studies (CIISS), met with George D. Schwab, president of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP), and his party on the afternoon of October 24, 2013 in Beijing.

Sun Jianguo said that the importance of China-U.S. relations has already gone beyond the scope of bilateral relations with increasingly international influence.

In June this year, the heads of the two countries agreed to jointly establish a new-type relationship between the two great powers based on the principle of mutual respect and win-win cooperation, pointing out the direction and goal for the development of bilateral relations.

The Chinese military will earnestly implement the consensus achieved by the heads of the two countries，enhance mutual strategic trust, expand the fields of exchanges and cooperation and actively establish a new-type China-U.S. military relationship featuring equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation within the framework of the bilateral relations.

It is hoped that the NCAFP will further strengthen its academic exchanges with the CIISS and give full play to its expertise in study, so as to constantly play a constructive role and make positive efforts in development of the relations between the two countries and the two militaries.
