Gen. Davis Mwamunyange, commander of the Tanzania People's Defense Forces (TPDF), met with Senior Colonel Zhu Youyu, the outgoing head of the Chinese air force expert group on the assistance for the Tanzanian Air Force and special grade pilot of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), and awarded him a certificate of honor on the morning of December 3, 2012.
Senior Colonel Hu Changming, Chinese chief military expert to Tanzania, and Maj. Gen. Kapuwani, commander of the Tanzanian Air Force, were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, Gen. Mwamunyange expressed his gratitude to China for its long-term support and assistance to the building of the TPDF and highly praised the selfless contributions that generations of Chinese military experts have made to the building of the TPDF since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Tanzania and China 50 years ago.
Gen. Mwamunyange also said that Senior Colonel Zhu Youyu was an excellent flight instructor and command-and-control expert. He lived and worked in a remote air base with difficult conditions, but he had no complaints at all. He had worked at the base for nearly four continuous years and left immeasurable wealth to the TPDF, for which the TPDF will cherish and remember for ever.
Afterwards, Gen. Mwamunyange awarded a certificate of honor to Senior Colonel Zhu Youyu, and they took a group photo to mark the occasion.
Senior Colonel Zhu Youyu expressed his sincere thanks to Gen. Mwamunyange for meeting him and awarding him the honorary certificate. He said that the honor was not only to him alone but also to the Chinese air force expert group and all the Chinese military experts offering assistance to the TPDF.
