Sponsored by the Ministry of National Defense (MND) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and hosted by the General Logistics Department (GLD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), the first symposium for experts from military traffic and transportation departments under defense ministries of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Beijing from December 3 to December 6, 2012 according to the document entitled the Cooperation Plan among the Defense Ministries of the SCO Member States for 2012-2013.
Leaders and experts from military traffic and transportation departments under defense ministries of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan and several related diplomatic envoys to China totaling 20-plus people were present at the symposium.
During the symposium, representatives from the SCO member states respectively presented the basic information on military traffic and transportation of their countries and exchanged the experience of military traffic and transportation support in bilateral and multilateral joint military exercises within the framework of the SCO, and highlighted such issues of common concern as further strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the field of military traffic and transportation and improving military traffic and transportation support capability in joint actions within the framework of the SCO.
A document entitled the Minutes of Symposium for Experts from Military Traffic and Transportation Departments under the Defense Ministries of the SCO Member States was signed during the meeting.
