TOKYO, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Toyota's hybrid Aqua ranked the best selling car in Japan for the second straight month in November when 26,346 units were sold, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said Thursday.
Its Prius hybrid ranked second at 22,039 units, down 35.5 percent from a year earlier but rising a notch from October, while Honda's minivehicle N BOX dropped a spot to the third place at 16, 406 units, according to the ranking.
Among all the 10 best-selling cars, six were minivehicles with engines of no more than 660 cc.
New low-priced models with improved fuel economies sold well, while sales of existing models were slow due to the end of a government subsidy program for purchases of eco-friendly cars in September.
The rankings are based on data from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and the Japan Mini Vehicles Association.
