BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- China's national political advisory body honored its former Standing Committee members at a ceremony held here Tuesday.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), presented memorial plates to the Standing Committee members of the 11th CPPCC National Committee who retired in March after the current political advisory body was formed.
From 2008 to 2012, the 11th CPPCC National Committee played an important role in the country's development and its Standing Committee members set a great example of devoting themselves to their duties, said Du Qinglin, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, at the ceremony.
The current CPPCC National Committee will carry on the legacy of its predecessors and make further progress in its work, he said.
Du hoped former members would keep in touch and contribute their knowledge and experience to the work of CPCCC in the future.
