HANGZHOU, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Local legislature in east China's Zhejiang Province Friday appointed Li Qiang as acting governor and vice governor of the economic booming coastal province.
Li served as deputy chief of the Zhejiang provincial committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) since November 2011.
The 53-year-old was elected an alternate member of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China last month.
He is a native of Rui'an, Zhejiang and has a master's degree in business administration.
The 37th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress on Friday also accepted the resignation of former governor Xia Baolong, who was appointed the Party chief of Zhejiang Tuesday.
