BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhuanet) -- China enters the summer solstice at 13:04 Beijing time on June the 21st, the most important solar term of the 24 traditional Chinese solar terms. It means the hottest weather of the year is on its way.

People eat noodles for good luck at the start of the summer solstice, according to Chinese tradition. Doctors say during the hot summer weather, people’s digestive system is relatively weak, and they suggest people eat green beans, water melon, fish, sugar cane, pears and other light seasonal food.

China’s Central Meteorological Bureau has issued a heat warning this morning, with Chongqing municipality and Jiangxi province facing temperatures up to 39 degrees Celsius. The temperature will reach up to 35 degrees in southwestern China, such as Sichuan and Guizhou provinces.
