Oscar-winning British actress Helen Mirren has been exploring local slang while attending the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival in Shanghai.
She was there to promote a screening of the biopic film "Hitchcock", in which she plays Alfred Hitchcock's wife, Alma Reville.
Mirren's director husband, Taylor Hackford, is also a guest at the festival. Mirren starred in her husband's 2010 drama film, "Love Ranch".
At a press conference on Wednesday (June 19), the 67-year-old actress described her working relationship with her husband as a "pain in the arse". She then asked reporters how to say the phrase in local slang.
After hearing several options, Mirren chose "dan teng", which literally means "pain in the egg", as her preferred option.
She went on to discuss her experiences in Shanghai, and said she was looking forward to having dinner at a "local and funky" place instead of a fancy restaurant.
Mirren won the Best Actress Oscar at the 2007 Academy Awards for portraying Queen Elizabeth II in "The Queen".
