Today, there are over 200 million people in the world living and working abroad. People's careers are no longer constrained by the borders of their home countries. More and more talent is moving around the globe in pursuit of their dreams.
According to a latest report leased by global recruitment company Hydrogen, the United States is the most desirable place for professionals to head for, followed by the United Kingdom and Australia.
The report, based on a survey of more than 2,000 people across 90 countries and regions, indicated that the prime motivators for relocating are improved career opportunities (18 percent), new experiences (16 percent) and greater earning potential (16 percent).
Developed countries and regions are still the top preferences for most professionals, although some Asians with international experience are currently returning to their home countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, in pursuit of a better future.
The U.S. still keeps its dominant position, increasing its lead by 7% up to 23% from last year. Being a dynamic market for law, life sciences and technology, the UK is the professionals' second choice. Australia is also a popular destination because it combines highly developed professional sectors with a high quality of life.
Chinese mainland moved up two places to the 11th position on the list from last year's 13th.
The "Global professionals on the move 2013" is the fourth annual report published by Hydrogen.
