BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese culture will be presented in more than 30 African countries this year as part of the "China Cultural Focus" event, according to a Thursday statement from the Ministry of Culture.
Multiple performances, exhibitions, film festivals, lectures and concerts will be held in African countries, said Zhao Haisheng, an official in charge of liaisons under the Ministry of Culture.
The annual event, which began in 2008, is sponsored by the ministries of culture and commerce and the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
Zhao said the event will facilitate the implementation of an action plan that came out of last July's fifth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
Performances will also be staged in more than 10 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities around China, he said.
In addition, the first round-table conference on the China-African cultural industry will be held in the cities of Beijing and Shenzhen from June 18 to 23.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the conference will be attended by senior cultural officials and experts from Africa for the purpose of discussing cultural cooperation.
