The Chinese version of Simone de Beauvoir's revolutionary masterpiece The Second Sex, published by Shanghai Translation Publishing House, has won the 2012 Fu Lei Award for Translation and Publication. The version, by Shanghai Normal University professor Zheng Kelu, is said to be the first authorized translation into Chinese from the original French. The Fu Lei Award was launched in 2009 by the French embassy in China. Guo Hong'an, from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, also won with his translation of Collected Works by Albert Camus, published by Yilin Press. The award ceremony will be held in Beijing on Dec 14.
