PHNOM PENH, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday inaugurated a 7-storey building of the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee, urging athletes to increase training towards victory when the country hosts SEA Games in 2023.
"The new building reflects the progress in the development of sports sector," the premier said. "I'd like to urge all athletes to increase their training in order to gain victory when the country hosts SEA Games in 2023."
The headquarters, took 18 months to construct in the complex of the capital's Olympic Stadium, are the offices of 40 sports federations and the National Paralympics Committee, Thong Khon, President of the National Olympic Committee, said at the ceremony.
"It is the historical event for the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia that has its own modern headquarters," he said.
Cambodia sets to host the SEA Games for the first time in 2023. In April, the country began to construct a new and modern stadium on the outskirts of Phnom Penh in order to prepare for the milestone event.
The constructing stadium will be able to greet 100,000 visitors.
