The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Friday kicked off a pilot program that allows private enterprises to engage in the mobile telecom resale business.
Private companies can purchase mobile telecom services from the nation's three State-owned telecom carriers that have long dominated the market and resell the services to consumers under their own brands.
Resellers must build up proprietary customer service systems, said the ministry, which noted however that satellite mobile telecom services would not be made available for resale.
