BANGKOK, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The cabinet approved a 350,000 U.S. dollars project for the Education Ministry to join hands with the UNESCO to improve Thai education, Thai Government website reported on Wednesday.
The cabinet on Tuesday approved proposal from the Education Ministry to ask the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to take on an advisory role to draft strategy to improve the Thai education system.
The move is aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of Thai education so that it meets international standards, it says.
A total of 10.4 million baht or about 350,000 dollars will be set aside for the project.
It is hoped the two organizations will assess the progress of the government's current education policies, show how the quality of Thai education compares with that of other countries in the region, and come up with new policy ideas.
