The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) released a tourist price index (TPI) Wednesday for the first half of this year, designed to show the price trends of tourism activities in one of the world's largest tourism markets.
According to the report, the TPI is rising at the same pace as the consumer price index.
The index rose faster in the first quarter than during the second.
The index is expected to rise further in the third quarter as the peak traveling season approaches.
The index was based on data from 658 high-level tourist sites and 600 hotels, and included hotel prices, transport prices and ticket prices for tourism venues.
