PARIS, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Third seed Victoria Azarenka of Belarus breezed past Russia's Elena Vesnina to reach the second round at the French Open here on Wednesday.
Azarenka, the twice Australian Open champion, took a comfortable win of 6-1, 6-4 over the 38th-ranked Vesnina at the center court.
The Belarussian then extended her lead over Vesnina to 5-0.
Despite retaining her title at the Australian Open this years, Azarenka has yet to win at Roland Garros. Her best result at the clay court Grand Slam was reaching the quarterfinals in 2009.
