WARSAW, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Poland's flag carrier the Polish Airlines (LOT) said on Thursday that it will soon put its newly-purchased Boeing-787 Dreamliner into service, becoming the first in Europe to fly the airliner.
The aircraft landed at Warsaw's Chopin International Airport on Thursday. LOT has ordered eight in total, with the next four due to be delivered early next year.
Marcin Pirog, LOT president, said this airliner cost the company 200 million U.S. dollars. The 787-8 model can seat 252 passengers in three-class sections.
Due to the use of the composite material, the lighter Boeing 787-8 can reduce fuel consumption by 20 percent, while the concentration of oxygen in the cabin by eight percent, and greatly reduce passenger fatigue.
The airlines plan to fly the aircraft first between Warsaw and Prague later this year, and then extend its route to Chicago and Beijing, capital of China, early next year.
