New way of thinking needed for stability in Northeast Asia (2)

The United States cannot be ignored when discussing about China-ROK relations especially when it increased investment in Asia-Pacific region. China has enough strategic space and confidence and it will not engage in competition with other powers for keeping a closer relationship with a neighboring country. However, the bottom line is that the country shall not harm the interests of China in order to please a certain country

Both China and South Korea are influential in the Northeast Asian region and have large room for cooperation and common issues to face. Both have a lot of things to do in maintaining post-war international order and making Japan "a normal country." Otherwise, the regional cooperation of Northeast Asia and even the cooperation of East Asia are hard to be promoted.

Although China and South Korea have different views on the stability of Northeast Asia, the common interests are the most important. China approves political negotiation of solving differences and firmly opposes any acts causing sense situation and even armed conflicts. The principled position of China is highly responsible and rational, because countries in the region especially disputing parties will face a hard time if the situation in the Korean Peninsula presents a vicious cycle.

During the presidential campaign, Park Geun-hye said that she hoped to ease the military confrontation on the Korean Peninsula through practical dialogues and restart the Six-Party talks. Indeed, stabilizing the situations in Northeast Asia especially Korean Peninsula needs new ideas.
