Florian Paillard, a 27-year-old French, is a postgraduate student at Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, majoring in acupuncture, moxibustion and massage. He came to China from Besancon, France six years ago, which is also the birth place of renowned writer Victor Hugo.
Ten years ago, Florian's father began to receive Chinese medicine rehabilitation therapy in France, which lit up Florian's interests in acupuncture and moxibustion. Following his dream, Florian studied the Chinese language before he dived himself into Chinese medicine courses. He believes that to master the language is key to perfect himself in Chinese medicine. Now his Chinese is fluent enough to ask about the patients' condition and discuss academic issues with his teacher and colleagues. And he can practice acupuncture, moxibustion to the patients on his own.
When asked about how he convinced his friends to take Chinese therapy such as acupuncture, Florian said,"Let them to observe the effect, it works!" Florian is now working on his paper on the acupuncture rehabilitation of stroke-caused aphasia. On his future plans, he said, "No matter where I go, I will promote the Chinese medicine to help more people."
