Aware of parasites and viruses
Hamsters can carry scary virus which might cause severe birth defects and miscarriage through infection. So if you’ve got a rodent at home, avoid cleaning its cage, and by all means, don’t touch its saliva, urine, blood or droppings. It is recommended to place the cages in a guest room or somewhere else mom-to-be doesn’t spend much time in during her pregnancy.
