What’s behind pupils' bread and milk lunch? (3)

(People's Daily Online)

17:06, November 28, 2012

The healthy lunch has become a snack in many rural places, which runs counter to the purpose of the program.

Second, lack of supervision leads to unsafe "healthy lunch." Nearly 340 students in Dingla Primary School in Tangfang town, Zhenxiong county, Yunnan province, suffered various symptoms such as diarrhea, bellyache, and high fever after eating unsafe "healthy lunch."

It is extremely important to ensure the safety of foods, particularly healthy lunch for students. If unsafe or expired food is found in students' healthy lunch, it shows local educational authorities' and schools' lack of effective supervision of lunch suppliers and canteens' poor sanitation situation. These loopholes should be closed as soon as possible in order to lay a solid foundation for the healthy lunch program.
