"No one knows what really happened. The police wouldn't release anything," Wang said, adding that he was only informed of Jiang's incident well after his death. "I heard that the police took control of the situation after the incident and refused to let people visit Jiang in hospital."

The hospital said there was no record of the emergency room having accepted Jiang as a patient on November 2 but declined to reveal further information.

"Jiang was a very stubborn man who had a strong sense of right and wrong," said Wang.
