Toyota recalls 2.77 million vehicles over steering, pump defects (4)

It stated that inspections and repairs could be completed within 90-minutes.

Toyota famously recalled more than 10 million vehicles in 2009 and 2010 over the issue of accelerator pedals sticking as a result of interference from floor mats and due to the shape of some vehicles footwells.

The affected vehicles had to receive modified-length pedals, electronic brake override systems and modified floor mats.

Toyota, agreed to pay a 16.4 million U.S. dollar fine for hiding, for at least four months, the accelerator pedal defects blamed in more than 50 deaths in the United States and dozens more around the world.
