Belt and Road cooperation boosts global infrastructure connectivity (2)
The Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway (HSR), the first of its kind in Indonesia, connects Indonesia's capital city Jakarta and the fourth largest city Bandung. It greatly cuts the journey between the two cities from over three hours to around 40 minutes.
It is also the first overseas construction project that fully uses Chinese railway systems, technology and industrial components.
The 142.3-km long high-speed line is a flagship project that synergizes the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and Indonesia's Global Maritime Fulcrum strategy.
According to statistics provided by Kereta Cepat Indonesia China, 45,000 Indonesian employees were trained on-site through institutions and by their Chinese teachers during the high-speed railway's construction. And the project has created about 51,000 jobs in Indonesia.
