A young Chinese team recently went viral for reproducing the beauty of Hanfu, a traditional Chinese clothing of Han nationality.
The talented group spent 11 years recovering 200 outfits. Due to lack of relevant records in ancient books, they searched for clues in the clothing patterns and color collocations by studying ancient paintings and frescoes.
In addition, they referred to a vast array of literature and reports during the process, and colored the clothes with traditionally used vegetable dyes.
The team has two publications which detail the recovery work, and British TV producers reached out to them, later producing a show that introduced the exquisite traditional Chinese clothing to the world.
The style of clothing represents Chinese aesthetics and spirit, according to the team, adding that ancient people’s pursuit of beauty is impressive, and they hope, by reproducing the outfits, such traditional beauty can be passed down through generations.
