39 Chinese Media Organizations from Southeast Asia Gather in Pu'er

From February 28 to March 2, 2016, the Publicity Department of the Municipal Party Committee of Pu'er and China News Service jointly organized in Pu'er a series of interviews, officially known as the "Organized Tour of China for Southeast Asian Chinese Media Organizations of 2016 • Pu'er Leg," which were conducted by a group of media professionals who had been sent to the city for the media event by 39 Chinese media organizations from Southeast Asia.

The delegation traveled to the depths of such parts of the city as Simao District, Ninger County, and Lancang County, focusing its efforts on topics like the construction of a National Green Economy Experimental Zone in Pu'er, the city's effort to apply for the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site for the Ancient Tea Plantations of Jingmai Mountain, and its effort to develop its mix of diverse national cultures. In downtown Pu'er, the delegation paid a visit to Yunnan Coffee Exchange and Yunnan Pu'er Tea Exchange, in the process learning in detail the two exchanges' roles and influence as public trading and service platforms and doing interviews with tea and coffee businesses to learn how well they had been doing. In Ninger County, the delegation went on a visit to the ruins of the famous Tea Packhorse Trail by traveling to Tongxin Town, where the Nakeli Wood Engraving Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Practice Base of Pu'er University is located. The lifelike wood engravings put on display at the base attracted many journalists so deeply that they lingered long to admire their beauty and craftsmanship. In Lancang County, the delegation went to Laodabao Village, populated predominantly by Lahu people, to watch the national dances and songs created and performed by the villagers; the delegation also paid a visit to the Tea Mountain and ventured deep into the tea forest there to learn more about the history of Pu'er's tea culture, and the harmonious coexistence of human and nature on Jingmai Mountain made every member of the delegation long for a life as enjoyable and peaceful as can be found in the mountainous region. The delegation expressed the hope that the Ancient Tea Plantations of Jingmai Mountain will succeed in acquiring the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site as soon as possible.
