UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 2 -- Three United Nations entities have been informed of the intentions of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to launch an earth-observation satellite between Feb. 8-25, said a UN spokesman Tuesday.
The DPRK has told the International Civil Aviation Organization, International Maritime Organization and International Telecommunications Union about its plan to launch an earth-observation satellite this month, said Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the secretary-general, at a news briefing held here.
"Right now we are carefully monitoring the developments and we are in close touch with interested parties and the international organizations," he said.
