Stockholm, Dec. 9 (People’s Daily Online) Traditional Chinese medicine combines with modern technology will better benefit people and Tu Youyou, the Chinese scientist who won the 2015 Nobel Prize for Medicine has set a good example in this field.
On Dec. 8, an in-depth Chinese medicine dialogue between Swedish and Chinese medical experts was held at the Vinterviken, an old factory of Nobel from 1891 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Chinese medicine has a history of thousands of years, and TCM has made important contribution to Chinese people. Traditional medicine should combine with modern technology so as to develop and better benefit humanity, said Professor Zhang Boli, director of Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in his speech.
Zhang said Tu Youyou’s visit to Sweden is a journey seeking friendship and cooperation with doctors all over the country in benefiting humanity.
In Sweden, there are over 300 Swedish doctors who are committed to doing research about and promoting the Chinese medicine. Tu Youyou’s success has added confidence to their work.
“In Europe, for many many years, we’ve tried to find the bridge between the Chinese medicine and the Western medicine. When we heard about Tu Youyou’s prize, we thought this is the bridge! ” Eva Marie Janelo, President of Swedish Acupuncture Association told People’s Daily Online.
“Tu Youyou sets an example for Chinese traditional medicine. If they do the way she does, Chinese medicine will flourish,” said Qian Pan, Professor of the Department of Clinic Immunology and Transfusion Medicine in Karolinska Institute.
