Photos have just emerged from an unusual wedding for a soldier and his wife in 2010.
Cheng Linan is the squad leader of an ordnance store in Shenyang Military Region. As ammunition escorts, the squad's work is dangerous and arduous. They spend days and months in railroad boxcars, where they work, eat and sleep only in just a space of just a few square meters.
Back to 2010, Cheng planned to marry his fiancée of 8 years Chen Yanlion the National Day holiday. However, a special escort mission was assigned and he was called away to lead the team.
Cheng voluntarily asked to stay for the mission, although he knew the work would last at least 14 days and his fiancée had only 10 days' leave.
Chen Yanli had set off for Cheng's unit for the wedding. She was upset about the change, however, she said on the phone, "Marrying a soldier means sacrifice. Go to you work, I can understand."
On the planned wedding day, at the train station where Cheng Linan was passing through, the broadcast tannoy changed to the wedding march. Chen Yanli stepped down from her train carriage on to the platform where Cheng Linan, surrounded by other soldiers, came to meet her. They got married right there on the platform, the ceremony lasting just 15 minutes. Before other passengers figured out what was going on, Cheng Linan had already left for the mission with other soldiers.
"I owe you a wedding," Cheng Linan said to his bride.
Now, Cheng Linan and Chen Yanli have had a lovely daughter. Recently, the escort team held a grand wedding for the couple in return for their years of sacrifices.
