Xiao Nan, a tattooist, works in a studio smaller than 50 square meters. A cat lies in a sofa, with a fake owl "sits" on a man-made branch. Different kinds of pictorials, books and decorations are on a shelf at the other side of the studio. Xiao makes tattoos for customers in his studio. It seems that Xiao is not an easy going person with beard on his face and different styles of tattoos on his hands.

Xiao made 10 letters on each of his fingers when he was in university saying "I HAVE DREAM". "I want to tell everyone that I have dreams about tattoo," said Xiao.

However, Xiao's parents did not support what he did. When his parents learned about their son's plan, they cut off all ties with him within a month. But Xiao never gave up. He told his parents that if a company refuses him due to tattoos on his body, the company is not a qualified designing company. Fortunately enough, none of the companies Xiao had applied said no to him.

Xiao has been to cities like Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hong Kong to seek fortune in these years. He established his own studio in 2014.

Learning about Xiao's achievements and efforts, his parents eventually support his career and even share Xiao's tattoo designs in their WeChat moments.

Different tattoo images designed by Xiao are hung on a wall in his studio. Xiao will design for every customer according to their requirements. "It is difficult for me to communicate with them in the early stage because some customers' requirements are too abstract," said Xiao.

For customers, they have to bear pain on their skins to make such an indelible mark on their body. Xiao spares no efforts to satisfy each of his customers.

Xiao is getting much busier than before. He said tattooist is a marginal profession in China and is not accepted by the majority. "People tend to believe that those who have tattoos are not good men," said Xiao.

In Xiao's belief, he is born to make tattooist accepted by all the people.
