Peng Xiaoping, 40, a migrant worker, built a photovoltaic power station in Gaofengsi village, Chongqing. The power station was put into operation on Tuesday after a two-month trial.
Peng has worked in other cities for 20 years. In recent years, rooftop photovoltaic power generation which is rapidly developing in eastern coastal region has caught his attention.
He rented a piece of land in his hometown and built a 60 KW photovoltaic power generation project which consists of 240 pieces of photovoltaic panels. The whole project costs him 480,000 yuan. It can generate 300-500 kWh of electricity per day in a day with sufficient sunlight. It will generate 60,000 kWh of electricity through the year.
According to Li Bin, marketing director of National Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company, Peng Xiaoping’s project is the biggest private photovoltaic power generation station in Chongqing, and it has a strong demonstration effect in the local village.
During the trial operation period, the photovoltaic power generation station has sold 11,000 kWh of electricity on the Internet under the guidance of experts who were assigned by Electric Power Company.
