Authorities in Northeast China's Shenyang on July 13 announced that police shot dead three terrorists and wounded one who waved knives to resist arrest on the same day, and the suspects were from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
Soon the German-based World Uyghur Congress (WUC) demanded that Shenyang police must take responsibility for "brutally" shooting Uyghurs in front of their children.
The East Turkestan Information Center even claimed that the shooting is a massacre and part of a continuing genocide against the Uyghurs. It called for the terrorists to win over Chinese invaders psychologically.
Shenyang police's arrest of 16 terrorist suspects and fatal shooting of knife-wielders has protected the citizens' security and won applause. The WUC and other overseas organizations immediately released contradictory information and comments, as if they are clear about the details. There are two possibilities - they either have direct contact with the terrorist suspects, or they are talking nonsense.
The latter seems more likely. Each time the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) organizations are quick to react to Xinjiang-related anti-terrorism incidents. But these announcements take basically the same tone, that Chinese authorities are carrying out "genocide," and that they are killing innocent Uyghur people.
But Western media are never tired of their claims. The WUC, which habitually lies, has become a must-quote source. With articulate processing and structuring of information, these news reports often create a context that makes the WUC's quotes sound "more trustworthy." The seemingly objective reports are actually misleading the public against China.
In the Shenyang case, would law-abiding citizens wield knives to resist arrest? If they did not try to use force to resist arrest, how could they be shot dead on-site?
The West never admits they support terrorist forces in Xinjiang. But through the mouth of the ETIM organizations, they clearly expressed their bias toward the terrorists. The terrorists in Xinjiang have been counting on Western support and believe their use of terrorism is justified.
Chinese people are clear that some Western forces are pushing the terrorist activities in Xinjiang. Although there is not much China can do to counter their influence in this area, China will not give up to such Western forces.
Some said people from Northeastern China are not meek lambs. Actually as anti-terrorism efforts have been mobilized nationwide, police and citizens across the country are no longer meek lambs. The potential terrorists have to watch out, since if they dare to continue doing evil things, they will be doomed.
