LONDON Jul. 13 (People's Daily Online) —— Rohan Dennis (AUS), who rode the fastest individual time trial in Tour de France history, and sprint star Andre Greipel (GER) are confirmed for the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic on Sunday 2 August.
“It’s great to have the winners of the first two stages of the Tour de France in the field. They are the guys well in form,” said Mick Bennett, Race Director of the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic. “Dennis, with his style of riding, could well use his time trial ability to attack in the last 5-10 km to win and Greipel is showing he has the form to potentially outsprint our own Mark Cavendish. It augurs well for a real cliffhanger of a Classic.”
25 teams of 6 riders will contest the 200km race, which this year starts on Horse Guards Parade in St James’s Park and offers the world’s largest prize fund for a one-day race.
The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic is the fifth and final event of Prudential RideLondon. More than 95,000 riders will participate in the five events over the weekend of 1-2 August.
An extensive communications campaign is planned to help businesses and the public plan ahead and get around on the day. This will include a leaflet drop in July to 1 million+ residents and businesses along the route, drop-in sessions for local people and community access plans.
