To prevent looting of antiques in the Palace Museum by Japanese invaders during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, managers of the museum started to transfer those antiques to places in southwestern China on the night of Feb. 5, 1933. A total of 9,369 boxes of antiques were transferred to Leshan in southwest China's Sichuan province in 1939, which were preserved in ancestral halls and the Gufo Temple. (CNS/An Yuan) |
