"China has taken note of the smooth presidential election in Poland and congratulates Andrzej Duda on being elected as the new president," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a daily press briefing.
Hua said China has always attached great importance to its relationship with Poland.
"We look forward to working together with Poland to deepen mutual trust, enhance cooperation and push for the sound and steady development of the China-Poland strategic partnership," she said.
The Polish National Election Commission on Monday announced the official results of Sunday's presidential elections, which showed Duda received 51.55 percent in the second round of votes in the presidential election.
The current President of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski, backed by the Civic Platform Party, was second and took 48.45 percent of votes.
