Restoration project of ancient town Dukezong underway in SW China

Tourists spin a giant gilt-bronze prayer wheel in the ancient town of Dukezong in Shangri-la County, southwest China's Yunnan Province, March 14, 2015. The general restoration project for the ancient town of Dukezong which caught fire in January of 2014 has been well underway. The whole project, which is worth 1.2 billion yuan (196 million U.S. dollars), is expected to be finished in 2016. Dukezong, eastablished more than 1,300 years ago, is known for its Tibetan-style architectures. The fire that broke out in January of 2014 burnt nearly a fifth of the ancient town's core preservation area. (Xinhua/Lin Yiguang)
