BEIJING, Dec. 26-- Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong on Friday stressed that the government should adhere to the rule of law in managing religious affairs.
The leadership by the Communist Party of China in religious affairs administration should be insisted on and matters regarding religious issues should be handled properly, Liu said at a forum to mark the 10th anniversary of the regulation of religious affairs.
Liu said that over the past decade, regulation has guaranteed the religious freedom of Chinese citizens and has won support among the religious circles.
She called for proper efforts to deal with social problems involving religious elements and to promote the harmony among religious circles and other social sectors.
She also urged to bring into play the positive role of religious personages and believers and pool their strength to serve the realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.
