Zhang Xue is a unique embroidery worker in Zhenhu District of Suzhou City, who works among more than 8,000 embroidery workers in the 1700-meter-long street. This man has received several rewards by his works "Nurture" and "Golden Pheasant". His mother Xue Jindi is also an embroidery master.

Declining offer from foreign university, he went back home to be an embroidery worker

Zhang Xue entered Nanjing University of Finance majoring in international economy and business after he graduated from high school. He never gave up the love for Suzhou embroidery. He built a website named "fantastic Suzhou embroidery" and updated some videos and information in his free time. In addition, he was interested in visiting museums, enjoying some classic calligraphies and paintings until the museum was closed.

In the last year of his university life, many students around him were busy preparing for all kinds of examinations and looking for ideal jobs. Same like them, Zhang Xue applied for the post graduate of University of Leeds. At the same time, he did futures and sales in Nanjing and Suzhou. He indeed liked the job of doing business because he could make big money. But he couldn't give up embroidering in his life.

Out of many people's expectation, he declined the offer of University of Leeds, and went back home to work in his mother's studio. Many people could not understand his choice, thinking it is a waste of time to do embroidery because even an illiterate could handle it. There was a traditional saying in his hometown, only unpromising persons would take this kind of dead-end job. Thus they sometimes laughed at Zhang Xue.

Fortunately, Zhang Xue's parents were open-minded and they supported their son's choice. This encouraged him to keep holding on embroidery career.

He imaginatively combined photoshop and sketch to create a unique embroidery work of MYOTee (Lian Meng, popular online recently). Even though he had some successful works, he never regards himself as a master. What he wanted to realize was to make the embroidery in his hometown Suzhou known to the public. When he becomes old, he would enjoy talking with others about his embroidery.
