Wang Wei, born in 1987 in Yichun, northeast China's Heilongjiang province, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in advanced stage at 8. Cancer cells spread to every part of her body when she was 16. Doctors soon issued a notice of critical condition to Wang in view of cancer deterioration.
At 20, the year assumed to be near the end of her life, Wang wrote to the crew of Xingguang Dadao, a well-known talent show in China, hoping that the program could help to realize her dream - to donate her body after her death. Moved by her story, Beijing Meitan Hospital performed a free surgery on Wang. Wang soon recovered. With the support from the hospital, Wang got an opportunity to go to medical school. After graduation, Wang became a nurse at the hospital. Wang's experience has proved that cancer can be defeated. (CNTV/Wang Zhe)
