Daming Palace

The Silk Road "Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor" has already become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site of the Daming Palace in Chang’an City from the Tang Dynasty is one of 7 sites in Shaanxi Province.

Built in 634 AD, the Daming Palace was reduced to ruins in 904 AD, having survived for about 270 years. In fact, 17 emperors of the Tang Dynasty once lived in the palace, whose area was 3.2 square kilometers, about 4.5 times as large as the Forbidden City in Beijing. Deemed a typical representative of the high achievement of the Tang Dynasty's court system and its architectural art, the Daming Palace is a masterpiece in ancient Chinese court architecture as well as a representative site of the ancient Chang'an City during the Tang Dynasty, which was the eastern starting point of the Silk Road in its heyday.
