BEIJING, Aug. 6 -- On August 5, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) released China's weather and climate features of July. The precipitation was less than the long term average; heavy rainfall weather frequently hit southern China; the average temperature of China was higher than the long term average; meteorological drought in Henan and Shaanxi was serious; the number of landing typhoons was unchanged from the same period of normal years.

In July, China's average precipitation was 115.0mm, 4.6% less than normal years (120.6mm). In Northwest China, North China and the Yellow-Huaihe River Valley, the precipitation was significantly less than normal. In North China, the average precipitation was 77.5mm, 34.9% less than the long term average (11.9.1mm), Northwest China, 51.3mm, 30.7% less, the Yellow-Huaihe River Valley (Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu and Anhui), 149.1mm, 21.2% less.

Southern China got 4 rainstorm processes. The precipitation of most places of southern China was over 100mm. Compared with the long term average, the precipitation of Hainan, central and eastern Guizhou, central Hunan, northwestern Jiangxi, central and southern Anhui and Fujian was 50% more, some places 100% more.

China's average temperature was 22.3℃, 0.4℃ higher than the long term average (21.9℃). From July 6 to 31, North China, the Yellow-Huaihe River Valley, southern Shaanxi, eastern Sichuan and Chongqing got heat wave.

In addition, Shandong, Henan, southern Shaanxi, southern Ningxia, eastern Gansu, central Hubei, northwestern Anhui, central and eastern North China, eastern Sichuan Basin, western Liaoning and central Inner Mongolia have got moderate to severe meteorological drought. Two typhoons landed in China in July. The No.9 typhoon "Rammasum" has been the strongest typhoon landing in southern China since 1973 as well as the strongest one landing in Guangdong and Guangxi since 1949. The No.10 typhoon "Matmo" has been this year's first typhoon entering into the inland and influencing a large scale.
