HONG KONG, Feb. 12 -- Hong Kong's city center saw a temperature down to 7.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning, the lowest ever recorded in February since 1996.
The observatory issued cold weather warning four days in a row as of Wednesday when other areas including Ta Kwu Ling in the northern New Territories and the Peak in the Island recorded as low as 4 degrees Celsius.
Drastic drop of temperatures were seen of late in Hong Kong as the territory is being continuously affected by a cold winter monsoon. At least 20 people in the city died because of the cold weather.
The observatory said cold weather will continue in the coming few days as a replenishment of the monsoon is expected to reach south China. Hong Kong might experience the coldest Valentine's Day since 1889 on Friday when the temperature will range between 7 and 11 degrees Celsius.
