A police officer's right hand has been cut by the knife in the training, and is bleeding heavily.
"Police! Put the knife down!" A police officer yells a warning to a knife-wielding "bandit" represented by a SWAT member in the training venue.
"Stay there or I‘ll kill you! Whack the police! " Faced with the police, the man unflinchingly kicks back and threatens the officers.
Two police close with the bandit from left and right with shields in their hands. Their aim is to control and narrow the bandit’s range of options. Another officer holds a riot fork and waits for his chance.
Suddenly the officer with the fork grabs the bandit’s calves and pulls him down. Although he puts up strong resistance in the confrontation, the officers with shields eventually subdue and handcuff him.
After the training, a police officer raises his hand to call for medical treatment. His right hand has been cut by the knife in the confrontation, and is bleeding heavily.
All the participants take turns in using real knives in the training, to better simulate actual combat.
"Trainees have to withstand greater psychological pressure when they are faced with real knives than the fake ones in the training," says an instructor. He adds that police officers must be prepared to sustain injuries in the training, in order to better protect the public when an emergency situation really occurs.
