BEIJING, June 18 -- Thirty-five cases involving bribery, embezzlement and other disciplinary charges were closed in China in the first five months of the year, the country's top auditing body said on Wednesday.
Cases were transferred to relevant departments for further investigation by the National Audit Office (NAO), it said in a statement.
Of all the cases, accepting bribes was the most common criminal activity among local officials, including Du Bidong, a transport official in Shaanxi Province who was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for accepting 4.51 million yuan (about 730,000 U.S. dollars) in bribes, according to the NAO.
