BEIJING, May 5 -- China's security chief Meng Jianzhu met on Monday with Azerbaijani National Security Minister Eldar Mahmudov.

Meng, secretary of the Political and Legal Committee the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said security cooperation is a major guarantee for the political stability of the two countries, as well as their economic and social development.

He urged cooperation between both sides in combating the three evil forces of separatism, extremism and terrorism and protecting Internet safety in a bid to promote regional and world security, peace and stability.

Mahmudov said Azerbaijan hopes to cement security cooperation and personnel exchanges with China.
