BEIJING, Aug. 29 -- A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official has called for promoting social stability by means of mediation.
Meng Jianzhu, chief of Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a national meeting on mediation held Wednesday by the Supreme People's Court and the Ministry of Justice.
Mediation has played a role between the Party, government and the people to promote social harmony and stability, said Meng, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
Meng also asked authorities to respond to the people's needs to resolve social conflicts and build social stability.
