BEIJING, March 3 -- Chinese and Russian top diplomats exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine on Monday, agreeing that properly handling the crisis is significant for the safeguarding of regional peace and stability.

In their phone conversation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also explained the Kremlin's stance on the Ukraine crisis to his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
