BEIJING, Oct. 18 -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Friday met with former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin in Beijing.
Yang recalled French President Francois Hollande's visit to China in April, saying the presidents of China and France have reached important consensus on developing bilateral relations.
As China and France will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations next year, the two countries should take the opportunity to deepen political trust and promote pragmatic cooperation, Yang said.
Raffarin, who is deputy head of the French Senate, noted that France and China have maintained close relations.
He said France would like to work with China to deepen cooperation in politics, trade and economy and culture.
