BEIJING, Aug. 22 -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Thursday met with visiting Sudanese Foreign Minister Ahmed Ali Karti in Beijing.
Yang said the bilateral friendship has endured the test of time, and commended the mutual understanding and trust as well as the fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of bilateral ties, and is ready to work with Sudan to jointly advance bilateral friendly cooperation, said Yang.
Karti said it is a priority for Sudan to develop relations with China.
He thanked China for helping the people of Sudan, adding that the country will work with China to promote a comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral relations.
The two sides also exchanged views on relations between Sudan and South Sudan.
Earlier Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Karti.
During their talks, Wang called on Sudan and South Sudan to resolve their differences through negotiations as soon as possible.
